Countdown 07/08 was definitely an unforgettable experience. Personally, I was at VivoCity (Photo credits: Singapore Tourism Board), one of the biggest shopping malls in Singapore, celebrating that significant moment with my loved ones as well as with a few thousands of Singaporeans gathered there. It was indeed a night filled with fun and joy. Over at the amphitheatre at VivoCity, thousands of Singaporeans as well as visitors from around the world gathered to celebrate the last few moments of Year 2007 together. Up on stage were celebrities from Mediacorp as well as well-known rock bands giving the audience non-stop live entertainment. It was also telecasted through the television to the other Singaporeans as well as Singaporeans residing overseas.
At the stroke of midnight, everyone’s attentions were captured by the astonishing fireworks display from the nearby island, Sentosa, which was having its very own Siloso Beach Party at the same time. Under the shower of the magnificent fireworks, all of us wished our loved ones and our fellow Singaporeans and visitors a Happy New Year. We expressed our love through smiles, hugs and kisses. It was definitely a heart-touching moment!
Even though we were not physically over at Sentosa to experience the fireworks display at its fullest potential, we could feel the unity of all Singaporeans celebrating that very moment together. The atmosphere around was simply, Uniquely Singapore!
Besides shopping malls like VivoCity hosting their own countdowns, as mentioned above, Sentosa has its very own Siloso Beach Party as well. Below would be a few great recommendations that you might want to give a try for this year’s Countdown: (we assure you that the fun level would be to the max!)

The Marina Bay SINGAPORE Countdown is marked as the biggest New Year’s Eve celebration in Singapore. And since the year 2005, Marina Bay SINGAPORE Countdown has been an annual tradition for all Singaporeans.
The unique programme, the magnificent fireworks as well as the splendid use of the waters at Marina Bay with Marina Bay’s very own Floating Platform has made Singapore’s Countdown experience a spectacular one!
This is when thousands of Singaporeans unite at this symbolic centre of Singapore. This is also when every individual in Singapore celebrates that significant moment with their loved ones, under the shower of colourful fireworks display.
The Wishing Sphere Project is a significant part under the Marina Bay SINGAPORE Countdown. This is when 10,000 wishing spheres filled with individuals’ wishes would be placed in the waters of Marina Bays (as shown in the picture above). Be part of the countdown, get down to respective venues and have your wishes written on these significant spheres!
The second event worth a go would be Sentosa’s Siloso Beach Party. Named the Asia Grooviest Party, it is an 10 hour long celebration all the way from 8pm of the 31 December to 6am the next morning. Dance your night away with non-stop hits from local and international celebrity DJs. It’s a time for all to relax, to forget all burdens from 2008 and welcome a whole new year 2009. The Siloso Beach Party last year has certainly proved to be the best in Asia! We had a great night of music from DJ Shy, DJ Rough, DJ Jensen and DJ Kavan. New to the party last year were the LIVE Bands. E.I.C, a highly popular local band as well as UK’s top jazz funk and soul band INCOGNITO rocked the night. 
And the fun does not end there! Visitors got their bubbly experience at our ever popular foam pool (Photo credits: singaporesights.com), created their own waves with the electronic surfboard, got their 360degrees experience of Year 2008 with the 360 degrees reverse bungee, and they got themselves dunked in the dunking pool. To add on, there were a great variety of food and drinks to satisfy your appetite through the new year. Also, non-stop performances are available to satisfy your visual cravings! With all these fun experienced last year, Singapore assures you a higher level of fun at Siloso Beach this year! So get ready your beachwear and head down to Sentosa on 31 December! Enjoy the fun like you've never enjoyed before! As quoted from one of my friends, "Siloso Beach Party was ultimate! I enjoyed myself to the maximum and you should have been there as well! Getting foamed all over, and having myself turned 360 degrees around was definitely my firsts." Upon hearing this, I told myself that I would not give the Beach Party a miss this year!
